    Headliner’s New My Promotions Screen

Say “Hello” to the new My Promotions screen! Using your feedback, we’ve made easier to track the performance of your Headliner promotions. The goal is to help you identify what is working best so you can optimize your mix of message and targets for reaching new fans. Thanks again for all of your input via live chat, email, and on our social networks. We always keep your ideas and suggestions in mind, so keep them coming!

    Summary Tab
Monitor the Reach, Recommendations and Engagements for your live promotions with a quick glance at this chart.  As before, clicking on a point of the chart will display additional analytics for that promotion.
Each row represents basic stats: time left for others to accept, percentage of the promotion that has been posted to profiles so far, how many recommendations, reach and engagement.  Click “Analytics” for additional information.

    All Promotions Tab
Here you can sort all of your promotions by Best Performing, Most Recommended, Most Reached, Most Engaged and Most Recent. Depending on your goal, you can use this information to create more effective promotion messages!
How do you determine Best Performing?
We use an algorithm that accounts for three things: 1)  Your Acceptance Rate (impressions vs. acceptances); 2) Reach (total shares); and 3) Engagement Rate (clicks, likes, shares, etc.).
How do you rate Best Performing Promotions?
Each promotion is rated with 1-5 stars, 5 being the best.  The average performing promotion on Headliner is 3 stars. The rating system will help you understand how each promotion is doing, and how you compare with other Headliner users overall.

    Promotion Details
Keep track of the criteria you selected when you set up your promotion, for example: targeted genres, additional artists, specific networks, dates selected, etc. Keep this information in mind, as they can help you determine how many Band Bucks you are potentially spending.
Where is the Artist Status Chart?
In the Promotion Status box, click on the blue View All link to see their status.
    Where is the Withdrawing Link?
At the bottom of Promotion Details you will find a large red button. Click on that to stop the promotion.
That’s all for now! As always, if you have any questions or suggestions contact us.

Headliner CEO Mike More on: How (and Why) Musicians Are Using Twitter

Headliner CEO Mike More recently contributed to a piece on How (and Why) Musicians Are Using Twitter for Read Write Web. Check it out below and consider some of his points as you manage your band’s social marketing strategy.

“Asking Twitter followers to buy one’s latest album is probably not a good approach, warns More. “That doesn’t provide any value for your fans. It’s a demand.” Instead, the experts recommend having conversations with fans, soliciting their feedback when appropriate and doing things like host group interviews via Twitter. When the opportunity arises for fans to enter their credit card information, those that want to will do it.”

Headliner’s New Automatic Link Shortener is Live!

    Good news, Headliner members.

In order to make the promotion creation process easier, we’ve integrated the URL shortener with the message creation box. Now, instead of writing your promotional message in one box and using a separate box to manually shorten your link, all you have to do is include your link with the rest of the message and we will shorten it for you!

We will still track the performance of the link as always. But we sincerely hope that this will make it easier and faster for you to create promotions.  If you want to be sure the link is correct, simply copy and paste it into a new tab or window in your browser.  If you’re not happy with your message or want to use a different link, you can edit your message before you click “Start Promotion.”

Feel free to reach out with comments and questions. We’ll be happy to help.

Headliner.fm CEO Mike More in VentureBeat: Facebook’s Timeline is a Good Thing

Headliner CEO Mike More recently wrote a guest blog post for Venture Beat on why Facebook’s new Timeline for brands is a good thing. While the change means many apps while have to adjust their business models, Mike thinks the end result will be more fan engagement, which is ultimately a good thing for everyone involved.

Headliner CEO Mike More on Facebook’s New Timeline for Brands

Timeline for brand and band pages is great news for bands. Overall it will make marketing better for bands and more relevant for music fans.

One of the big effects of the new timeline pages is a move away from tabbed application landing pages, which today are very popular, but do little to engage music fans. Lets face it, static landing pages are not that interesting.

The new timeline format will make marketing on Facebook more natural and conversational. The timeline formant focuses attention around your stories or news feed items which is a dynamic experience and much more interesting for fans.

A major benefit of the new timeline pages is that it will remind bands to listen more to their fans and engage them in interesting conversations around music, the road and their daily lives. This, without a doubt, results in happier fans.

Another new key timeline feature is that it lets bands see their most reactive news feed posts and share them with fans more broadly. This is key in spreading the word about your band, and, as many of you know, the best form of marketing.

And lastly but most importantly over 45% of your fans are checking you out on their mobile phones. The timeline will greatly increase your band’s reach while requiring less work. One status update and you’re done. This is much better than having to buy mobile ads in addition.

All in all, these changes require that bands become more conversational with their fans but this is a good thing, no? After all, the power of
Facebook and Twitter is in you sharing your stories and music with the world.

She can be spotted everywhere from the latest record release parties to hanging out with Karl Lagerfeld at Fashion Week. With her smooth flow, stylish looks and pro attitude, she’s bound to blow up soon. Get to know her now so you can say you “knew her when…”

    More about Azealia Banks:

Azealia Banks is a 20-year-old lyricist from Harlem, NYC. Since her first steps as a child in off-broadway theatre productions to her training at La Guardia High School of Performing Arts -a breeding ground for stars- she’s been steadily perfecting her craft and making a name for herself.

Her very first recording “Seventeen” placed her on the radar of many record labels right away. Word about Miss Banks kept spreading online and in the streets until she caught the eye of several record labels and tastemakers. Classically trained in the Performing Arts, Banks is a truly versatile artist, as showcased on tracks like the infectious Fader co-signed “L8R” and her celebrated cover of Interpol’s “Slow Hands”. A collaboration on the Major

Lazer EP and her appearance in the Nike Sportswear 1Love video series upped her profile in the past couple of years and kept fans waiting in anticipation for her next release.

Now prepping her debut album, Azealia has been teasing her audience with gems like “212″ – a certified club pleaser on rotation in dance floors around the globe- in addition to a slew of other records that showcase her range as an artist and will let people know what all the buzz is about. Headliner of the Day: Tay Dizm

The music industry is so full of boasting and big egos that it’s refreshing to come across an artist who is both talented and down to earth. Tay Dizm is that kind of artist. His friendship with T-Pain has been a bonus, but at the end of the day, you have to stand on your own. Tay Dizm may have gotten his start in Miami, but there’s no limit to how far his skills and charisma are going to take him. Watch for him at a gig near you.

    More on Tay Dizm:

Tay Dizm, songwriter and artist, is the blooming threat in pop-hip-hop music. The down to earth and high energy Miami artist ignites the world one city at a time. This incomparable artist -born Artavious Smith- has made a name for himself with his animated stage presence and humble spirit. “Talk to me and I’ll talk back,” he says.

In 2003, the Miami-native began his journey in Tallahassee, FL with best friend, T-Pain. The two traveled the globe extensively for close to four years, before Tay Dizm was ready to become an artist in his own right. Tay Dizm was able to jumpstart his career by appearing on two of T-Pain’s albums, Rappa Ternt Sanga (2005) and Epiphany (2007). When it came time to pick his first artist to represent his brand new venture Nappy Boy Digital, Pain chose Tay Dizm. He was also handpicked to appear on hard-hitting tracks which includes “She Got It” with 2 Pistols, “Who Da F*** is Dat” with Dolla which charted on the Billboard Year-End Hot 100 singles of 2008. Tay Dizm also appeared on “G-5” with Huey. The release of his first single in August 2008 “Beam Me Up,” which featured T-Pain and Rick Ross has brought him into the limelight.

A strong push at nationwide radio mix shows has helped him gain a strong fan base. The eccentric artist began focusing more on his solo career in 2009 which also was the release of his second single “Dream Girl,” featuring Akon. It was a global success with over 16.2 million views on YouTube. With Tay Dizm’s first leak “Smoke” ft T-Pain, produced by Mr. Beatz ( YMCMB producer) off his “Thank you For Being a Friend” all over the internet, the world is now hearing the best of what Tay Dizm has to offer. As he moves forward in this New Year, the Tay Dizm sound is catching on worldwide. With several awards at his side, including the 2008 songwriting award from ASCAP, and four hot new singles to be released this year, nothing can stop him.

Tay Dizm’s mixtape “Thank You for Being a Friend” was released February 17, 2011, presented by Coast 2 Coast DJ’s and Datpiff.com via Nappy Boy Digital. With a strong love for every individual fan he has, the mixtape cover will be an abstract colleague of pictures of his fans forming Tay Dizm’s face. As a follow up project to his mixtape, Dizm has a new street anthem “Gettin’ to the Money” featuring T-Pain and J-Bo which has spread virally. The energetic artist that fuses pop and rock into his music is making a buzz and the world is now receiving what Dizm has to offer.

“This is what we doing and this is where we going,” says Tay Dizm.
